Mi primera prédica en una Iglesia Adventista en Ponce / My first sermon at an Adventist Church in Ponce

El 3 de mayo de 2025 comuniqué mi primera “prédica” en la Iglesia Adventista Ponce V; va entre comillas lo de “prédica” porque vi más un ejercicio de comunicación inesperado alentado por los temas que solo se ven oración y en la introspección de la conciencia frente a lo inenarrable.

Mi base de fe comenzó en el catolicismo, gracias a mis padres. Agradezco esas raíces y respeto las diversas corrientes de fe. En mi niñez, pensaba que solo había católicos y protestantes. No sabía de lo Adventista.

En el 2001, por primera vez y por una oración contestada, visité a una Iglesia fuera del catolicismo. La ruta desde ahí hasta el 2024 es compleja. Fue en el 2024, que en tiempo Cuaresmal, esa ruta de 40 días me movió a reflexionar sobre lo que he vivido en 40 años.

En la ruta que me llevó a darle el Sí a la fe Adventista, desde el primer mensaje de la campaña “Nuevo Comienzo”, todo cambió: No podía perderme la campaña, tenía que definir un lugar de congregación y tuve que acelerar lo inevitable. Nadie me presionó, la vida misma me presionó. No me veo cambiando de fe, sino creciendo en la fe en Jesús.

Doy gracias por la sumatoria de mi existencia y trascendencia, por las nuevas respuestas y por las personas que he conocido en mis caminos de fe y perseverancia. Es como un salto cuántico. Al Eterno consagro todo…

My first sermon at an Adventist Church in Ponce

On May 3, 2025, I gave my first sermon at the Ponce V Adventist Church. The word "sermon" is in quotation marks because I saw it as an unexpected exercise in communication, encouraged by topics that can only be seen in prayer and in the introspection of conscience in the face of the unspeakable.

My foundation of faith began in Catholicism, thanks to my parents. I am grateful for those roots and respect the diverse faiths. As a child, I thought there were only Catholics and Protestants. I didn't know anything about Adventism.

In 2001, for the first time, and through answered prayer, I visited a church outside of Catholicism. The journey from there to 2024 is complex. It was in 2024, during Lent, that 40-day journey moved me to reflect on what I have experienced in 40 years.

On the path that led me to say "Yes" to the Adventist faith, from the first message of the "New Beginning" campaign, everything changed: I couldn't miss the campaign, I had to choose a place to congregate, and I had to accelerate the inevitable. No one pressured me; life itself pressured me. I don't see myself changing my faith, but rather growing in faith in Jesus.

I give thanks for the sum of my existence and transcendence, for the new answers, and for the people I have met on my journeys of faith and perseverance. It's like a quantum leap. I consecrate everything to the Eternal One…
